Drumset
This is my set. I play a Mapex MyDentity Custom Kit with Zildjian and Sabian cymbals, DW pedals, Remo heads, LP toys, TreeWorks windchimes, and use Vic Firth Sticks. She came in on July 23, 2014. This is my second set that I've owned. I use to play an Arbor set that was given to me as my beginning drumset.
Mapex
For my first drumset that I was going to buy, I wanted something amazing. I wanted it to be mine. So I spend a long time researching and designing custom drumsets that I thought would fit me. After playing on many different drums, I really loved how Mapex felt, and the way the hardware held. I found a beautiful shell that reminded me of an old grand piano.
1964 Ears
In Ear Moniters are a very helpful tool as a percussionist. They provide great ear protection, and are directly in the ear, instead of a floor moniter pointed in the general direction. 1964 Ears is a great Christian company that I found researching In Ear Moniters. Their prices are very competitive, and the quality is impeccable. My personal set of IEMs are the Qi Model, because they have a great low end and clearly play everything I want in my ears.
Zildjian/Sabian Cymbals
Although many people battle between who they love more Zildjian, Sabian, Paiste, or Meinl, I look for the sound that each cymbal makes. Because I do musical theatre, I am more concerned about the tones and sounds cymbals make, not the label on it. Although, I am currently only using Zildjian and Sabian, I am not opposed to other brands.
DW Pedals
I use DW pedals, because I have always found them to be smoother and faster. I can always adjust them to fit how I want: whether it be faster, slower, heavier, or lighter. I currently use my DW 5000 pedal for auxilary toys such as a tambourine or cowbell, because I play some auxilary parts in many shows.
Remo Heads
I started playing with Remo clear Pinstripe heads on my old Arbor drumset, and I loved them. When I got my new Mapex set, the stock heads that came on the drums were Remo Emporers and Ambassadors, and they sounded amazing on these drums. So logically, I kept them and have been using them ever since.
Vic Firth Sticks
In 6th grade band was when I got my first pair of 2B Vic Firth concert sticks, and ever since then, I haven't found a brand of stick that can compare. I use many different sizes for the different styles and instruments that I play in a show. For any standard drumset playing, I have my 5A sticks that are light and easy to get around the drums. Also, I use 5B, HB Brushes, and Swizzles
Latin Percussion
Latin Percussion has most everything you need in the auxilary world. I have 2 temple blocks (woodblocks), a cowbell, egg shakers, and two tambourines that are from Latin Percussion. I've never had any issues with the instrumets, and the sounds always carry very well.
TreeWorks
I was with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps when I discovered TreeWorks. I was amazed by the quality of sound in the windchimes. Each set is hand made and the company has so many different types of chimes for whatever the need is. So when it came time to purchasing a set of windchimes, I went with TreeWorks.
